The Met Gala, or Met Ball is one of fashion’s most prestigious events. Held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, it happens on the first Monday in May, chaired by Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. Each year has its own specific theme, with celebrities from the world of fashion, music, sport, politics and business in attendance, all boasting powerful outfits that get more impressive year on year. With this year’s Met Gala theme Gilded Glamour and White Tie, outfits paid homage to the US during 1870 and 1890, a time that saw a growth in industrialisation, and prosperity.
Hosted by Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Lin Manuel Miranda and Regina King, and with celebrities in attendance such as Kate Moss, Emma Stone, Hillary Clinton and Gigi Hadid, we saw how each icon uniquely took on this theme, marrying older influences with new. Whilst the decadence of the Met Gala’s outfits aren’t entirely appropriate for everyday style, there were plenty of contemporary touches that took inspiration from modern trends. From luxe feather trims to elevated tailoring, discover the best Met Gala outfits that you can recreate with this season’s KM styles.
