The effects of low-key luxury continue to be felt as we go into Autumn 2024.
Sophistication is grounding all of our style choices when it comes to colour, materials and silhouette, as elevated looks overtake casual and lounge-led looks. When Autumn hits, we tend to notice holes in our wardrobe, holes in the shape of ‘day-to-night’ items and statement pieces. During the Autumn season to come, we will be navigating a mix of aesthetics such as Boho, sport and smart. The style hack for the season is to look at all of these trend aesthetics and ‘core uniforms’ through a lens of luxury and sophistication for everyday, work and occasion looks.
Autumn Trend Forecast: The Pencil Skirt
For the first time in an Autumn season, skirts held a larger proportion of catwalk styles than trousers. We are seeing skirts take on a smart aesthetic with the pencil skirt being the most important. We are embracing demure lengths and fits. Don't shy away from this silhouette and save it for a formal occasion.
We are going to use the Scandinavian-mastered mixing of aesthetics to bring the pencil skirt into our everyday wardrobe. At fashion week, we saw the pencil skirt styled with oversized leather jackets, rugby tops, Boho blouses, and pointed boots. However, if you aren't feeling creative you can never go wrong with a matching set.
Autumn 2024 Fashion: Leather
There is a strong Boho feel to the winter that is to come … which means leather. This timeless material is updated with trending deep reds, vibrant greens and, of course, luxury-feel browns. The trench coat is an important item of the season, but we are looking for an edgier iteration. Styling is easy when you are working with statement pieces. Keep the whole look tonal (yes green on green, red on red … trust me!) and let the statement material do the work.

Autumn Clothing Trend: Polo Necklines
It looks like ‘Sport Core’ isn't going anywhere after seeing designers present their shows at Copenhagen fashion week. This aesthetic isn't as easy as one would expect to translate into our everyday wardrobes, wardrobes that are curated for the office, dinners out and relaxed weekends. So, we are looking for versatility within this trend. The ‘Sport Core’ aesthetic is signaling that it is time to invest in anything with a ‘Polo Neckline’. The preppy and somehow elegantly feminine detail is recognizable by a mini collar, half placket and button up finish. When we are styling ‘office-to-night’ looks, these are the elevated basics we didn't know we needed.
Khaki for Autumn Fashion 2024
This colour may have come and gone several times before, regardless, you will always find it's worth investing in khaki. This is a long term colour that has fought its way into the trend category after a staggering representation on the A/W24 catwalk. Khaki is no longer reserved solely for basics. Designers have used this colour to ground statement materials like leathers, sheers and big furs. Saturated dark tones lift this utilitarian colour creating an ultimate and romanticized autumn palette for everyday and occasion looks.
